Annual over height permit

Permits for the movement of over height vehicles must be purchased prior to entering the Northwest Territories.

Permits can also be applied for through an approved third-party.

Permit rules

1. This permit is non-transferable and non-refundable.
2. This permit is valid only if the load is a specialized, a "hay haul" trailer, or if the load cannot be reduced in height.
3. The truck and load shall not exceed 5.18 metres (17 ft.) high.
4. Any truck and/or load greater than 5.18 metres will require pre-authorization and is not covered by this permit.
5. No other type of over dimension or operating permit is expressed or implied by this permit.
6. Municipal approvals and clearance from all overhead utility providers will still be required for any overhead obstruction.
7. Damage to any overhead utilities or infrastructure will remain the responsibility of the driver/company. No other type of permit, other than over-height, is expressed or implied by this permit.
